WELCOME!

Washington Employment Law Digest is a blog that publishes case summaries of Washington State Appellate Court opinions in an easy-to-read format. All case summaries will contain our notes and implications.  To get started, view our CASES or conduct a search for your topic.

PUBLISHED OPINIONS

Case summaries of PUBLISHED opinions will contain our primary logo as follows:

UNPUBLISHED OPINIONS (AFTER MARCH 1, 2013)

We also produce case summaries of  unpublished opinions occurring after March 1, 2013, because, under certain circumstances, they “may be accorded such persuasive value as the court deems appropriate.” See GR 14.1(a), infra. Case summaries of UNPUBLISHED opinions will contain our “Nonbinding Authorities” logo as follows:

Pursuant to Washington State Court Rules, General Rule (GR) 14.1(a) (Citation to Unpublished Opinions):

(a) Washington Court of Appeals. Unpublished opinions of the Court of Appeals are those opinions not published in the Washington Appellate Reports. Unpublished opinions of the Court of Appeals have no precedential value and are not binding on any court. However, unpublished opinions of the Court of Appeals filed on or after March 1, 2013, may be cited as nonbinding authorities, if identified as such by the citing party, and may be accorded such persuasive value as the court deems appropriate.
